Global Traveler Companion

Employees enrolled in Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois and CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield are eligible for Blue Cross and Blue Shield Global Traveler Companion benefits. The benefit provides health care coverage when traveling internationally for business and personal reasons.

Transparency in Coverage Rule

For all health plans available to BCBSA employees, the Transparency in Coverage Final Rule requires disclosure of the negotiated rates with in-network providers and the historic allowed amounts paid to out-of-network providers. We provide paid time away from the office to relax and recharge, and support our employees who welcome a new child into their family, need to take care of family members, or have military commitments.

Volunteer Hours

Connecting with your community is a great way to establish social ties and enrich your life. Employees are given 15 volunteer hours per year to engage in community involvement.

Transit and Parking Reimbursement

To help our employees save on commuting costs, we offer the option of purchasing mass transit cards and parking passes on a pre-tax basis through payroll deduction.

Employee Assistance Program

When our employees need support in dealing with family, personal or workplace issues, our National Employee Assistance program provides confidential counseling and couching.
